Palace on Wheels is synonym for the name of an odyssey through time which will transcend you to the regal era of mighty Kings.  The luxury train first enveloped its celebrated circuit on 26th January, 1982 on the eve of Indian Independence Day.  The luxury train tour was planned to opportune the travellers a more opulent and hassle free measure to explore these charismatic cities of India. Thus the train journey traverses through the realms of one’s whims and fancies and opens a world of vintage charms in front of the travellers. 

Day 01: New Delhi Wednesday Departure 06:00 PM
Your Palace on Wheels Tour begins on Wednesday evening from Delhi Cantonment station.  On arrival at the station guests are greeted with a traditional Indian welcome by the formally dressed staff offering you garlands made of refreshing exotic flowers.  The train thus traverses through the night to reach the renowned Pink City of Jaipur.  Guests can relish a delectable dinner out of a distinctive menu in one of the restaurants on board.  Bask in the glory of your luxury vehicle by indulging in a tête-à-tête along with your favourite drinks.  As planned under this Palace on Wheels itinerary guests will stay onboard as the train encompasses its route to reach Jaipur.

Day 02: Jaipur, Thursday, Arrival 3:45 AM, Departure 11:30 PM
The first stopover on your journey via Palace on Wheels will be the famed Pink City- Jaipur.  The city is one of the best planned cities of India.  With the presence of various elaborate palaces and impressive edifices the city is an ideal spot to experience the splendour of the kingly rule in the country.  
Your city tour will begin in the morning when an air conditioned coach receives you from the railway station.  You will thus traverse to some of the most enticing sites of the city.  First on this day’s city tour guests will visit Hawa Mahal, which is a semi octagonal sandstone palace with lots of windows which have a history of being used by royal ladies to watch the daily processions of the city.  Followed by Hawa Mahal guests will be drive to Jantar Mantar, an ancient royal observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh II an erstwhile ruler of the city.  
Thereafter guests will be driven to Amber Fort which is situated on a hillock and provides surely the most enchanting views of the city.  Rides on caparisoned elephants will make the experience more amusing.  A tour to Jaipur is incomplete if travellers leave without laying your hands on some of the pretty trinkets from the city.  Guests are thus directed to Rajasthali which is the only Rajasthan Government Emporium selling handicrafts at genuine prices.  Here one can shop for Jaipur’s famed jewellery, handicrafts, blue pottery, carpets and rugs and more.

Day 03: Sawai Madhopur, Friday Arrival 5:30 AM, Departure 10:30 AM

Palace on Wheels arrives in Sawai Madhopur on the third day of your journey.  The city named after its founder Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I opens a world of wilderness in the regal state of Rajasthan.  In the morning on this day guests will be driven to Hotel Vinayak where they will be served a lip- smacking breakfast.  
Post breakfast guests will be driven in their luxury coach to Ranthambore National Park.  Ranthambore National Park is not only renowned for its rich fauna, but also for the ruins of a 10th century fort which are often visited by groups of tigers.  Laced with proper security equipments guests will then proceed for a jeep safari under the guidance of experts and naturalists.  Covering an area of 392 sq. kms the park is home to more than 300 species of birds.  The park has a great population of carnivorous which includes species of tiger, hyena, jackal, fox and more. 
The highlights of the tour will also include a visit to Jogi Mahal, an erstwhile forest guesthouse of the royalty famed for gorgeous views of Padam Talab.  Sawai Madhopur is also renowned for ethnic ornaments, costumes and toys so a quick visit to the local market will be a great treat.

Return back to the train where you will relish the lunch prepared by the expert chef.  The luxury train will then leave for Chittaurgarh.        

Day 04: Saturday, Udaipur Arrival 8:00 AM, Departure 3:30 PM

On the morning of the fourth day of this Palace on Wheels Tour guests will reach the Lake City- Udaipur. Udaipur is revered city of palaces and lakes together creating a romantic gateway.  The city was ruled by Mughals and Mewar clan for a long time and thus has their imprints intact in the form of splendid palaces and forts. 
The sightseeing tour of the city will begin with a visit to one of the most magnificent palace building of the city called Jag Niwas.  Situated on the banks of Lake Pichola, Jag Niwas seems to be floating on the azure waters of the lake.  Also visit the opulent Jag Mandir Palace thereafter.  Lunch will be served at Sun Set Point restaurant which will be followed by a visit to City Palace.  City Palace is a palace complex constituting of various illustrious palaces.  Also, one part of the palace is still the residence of the royal family.  Visit the Crystal Gallery- the balcony of Fateh Prakash Banquet Hall which is converted into a museum displaying crystal glass furniture, crockery, chandeliers and other antiques.

The luxury coach will then drive you back to Palace on Wheels which will then proceed towards Jaisalmer.

Day 05: Jaisalmer Sunday, Arrival 9:15 AM, Departure 11:45 PM

You will reach the famed Golden City- Jaisalmer on a Sunday morning and will be served a delectable meal on board itself.  The city is crowned by a yellow sandstone fort which also contains the palace of erstwhile royalty and ornate Jain temples.  On this day guests will be welcomed at the railway station and then will then board their luxury coach to first reach the grand imposing sight of Jaisalmer Fort.  The picturesque yellow fort has been choice of various Bollywood directors who shoot their blockbusters here.  
Continue to explore the painstakingly latticed mansions of the region and visit the famed havelis in the region.  Guests will thus visit Nathmalji- ki- haveli, Patwon- ki- haveli and Salim- Singh- ki- haveli are great examples of fine Rajasthani craftsmanship.   
Shopping is an intricate part of Rajasthan travel and thus today guests will be driven to Rajasthali which is Rajasthan Government Emporium.  Guests can shop for fine pattu shawls, wooden boxes, carpets, trinkets, silver jewellery, mirror work & embroidered articles and other curios at genuine prices.  
A lavish lunch will be served at Hotel Moomal.  A sunset view at Sam sand dunes will be perfect opening to a memorable evening in the desert city. Enjoy a fascinating experience of a camel safari in the evening; the experience will be further enhanced with the presentation of a folk dance and music presentation along with bar-be-que feast at Samdhani.

Return to the train thereafter and it will then leave for Jodhpur in the night. 

Day 06: Jodhpur, Monday Arrival 07:00 AM, Departure 3:30 PM

On this day Palace on Wheels moves towards its next destination, Jodhpur.  The second largest city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur is ringed with a high stone wall has seven gates and several bastions as part of its regal heritage.  
On this day guests will begin their city tour with a visit first to the imposing sight of rock- solid edifice of Mehrangarh Fort.  The grand fort of Mehrangarh constitutes of various impressive buildings which are great examples of architectural brilliance of that era.  Proceed next to near by Jaswant Thada and a group of royal cenotaphs made of white marble.

Next on this sightseeing tour guests will be directed to an extravagant palace - Umaid Bhawan Palace.  It is renowned world over for its classic settings and for being the largest private residence in the world where the royal family of Jodhpur resides.  Guests will then indulge in a shopping escapade and will be driven to a shop in the vicinity selling handcrafted articles.  Thus guests can buy some Jodhpur speciality breeches, embroidered shoes, silverware, paintings, metal curios and tie and dye fabrics from the city.  Guests then return to the train which will leave for Bharatpur late in the afternoon and will be served dinner onboard.

Day 07: Bharatpur Tuesday, Arrival 5:00 AM, Departure 8:45 AM

The train reaches Bharatpur early in the morning.  An early morning breakfast will be followed by a visit to world famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park.  A nestling place of thousands of species of birds the park mainly houses Egrets, Siberian Cranes, Migratory Water Fowl and others.  The park also boasts of housing about three hundred species of birds immigrating to the park from Siberia, China and other countries as well. 

Day 07: Agra Tuesday Arrival 10:30 AM Departure 11:00 PM

The day at Agra begins with a delectable meal onboard and guests will then proceed for a sightseeing tour of the city.  Relish your lunch at the Palace Hotel and then step in your luxury coach to reach the monument that epitomizes love itself- Taj Mahal, the monument counted amongst Seven Wonders of the World is surely a magnificent site.  The splendid Pietra Dura work on the Taj is simply magnificent.  Explore the edifice for a while.  In the evening guests will conclude this journey by enjoying a Light and Sound Show which will be followed by a gala dinner in Hotel Mughal Sheraton.  Return to Palace on Wheels thereafter and enjoy your comfortable sleep as the train takes you back to the national capital state- Delhi.
